ABOUT OUR HONOREE:
Beacon Hill Ladies Golf Association
It’s been a long-running tradition at Beacon Hill to hold a yearly golf tournament to raise
money to support the fight against breast cancer. The 18- and 9-hole ladies golf groups,
along with their guests, come together to play golf and enjoy a luncheon and gift auction
where all funds raised are donated to a cause. This has been one of the most popular
tournaments held every year with typically 70-80 women participating.
In 2010, the decision was made to change our charity to a more local one. Breast Intentions was
chosen because it donates 100% of the money it receives directly to the women who
need it most.
Each year, the 18-hole and 9-hole ladies work together to plan this joint event. Our
event staff, dining staff, and pro shop provide a tremendous amount of support. The
men of Beacon Hill also participate by dedicating one of their Wednesday Hat Group
tournaments to Breast Intentions.
Due to the generosity of the Beacon Hill family, this past year we were able to raise
over $26,000, a record amount, to help patients and their families during these difficult
times. Working with Breast Intentions continues to be a very rewarding experience and
an ideal partnership.
ABOUT OUR HONOREE:
St. Joseph's Knights of Columbus
Ladies Auxiliary #3402
The Knights of Columbus is an organization of Catholic Men and was founded by Father
Michael J. McGivney on Feb. 6, 1882 with a mission of charity. The Knights of Columbus have
four (4) common principals by which their order is founded; they are Charity, Unity, Fraternity,
and Patriotism. Our local council St. Joseph’s Council #3402, located in Keyport, N.J., is
testament to these principals. Council #3402 was started on April 22, 1951. The Council helps
and donates thousands of dollars every year to various charities through their fundraising
activities. Some of those charities include: “Send a Soldier Home for the Holidays”, “Coats for
Kids Program”, Providing Meals to Sick & Elderly, Providing Meals to the Homeless, High
School Scholarship Program, St. Vincent DePaul Society, St. Jude’s Hospital, American Cancer
Society, Make a Wish Foundation, The ARC of Monmouth County, and many more.
A few months after its inception the Council’s wife had started the Knights of Columbus Ladies
Auxiliary on October 25, 1951.
The Ladies Auxiliary performed many charitable functions from the on start to around the early
1990’s, and with little to no participation the Auxiliary ceased to operate in the 1990’s. It wasn’t
until 2009 when the Grand Knight, John DiGregorio, solicited his wife, Charlene, to startup the
Ladies Auxiliary again and try to continue on with the good work that the Auxiliary had
performed in the past. Charlene had begun what is the most successful Charity event of the
organization’s history, the Annual Breast Cancer Awareness Fundraiser (BBQ and Basket
Auction). John and Charlene’s daughter, Victoria DiGregorio, served as the Ladies Auxiliary
President for three (3) years to continue on and grow the fundraising efforts year after year.
Since the Auxiliary had started their Breast Cancer fundraising activities, they have donated in
excess of $150,000 to various, and most importantly, local charities such as Breast Intentions.
The Ladies Auxiliary operates with a minimum staff and has approximately 20 active members.
